Spring is in Motion: Tulip Season Begins at Yargullen Flower Farm

There’s something truly special happening behind the scenes at Yargullen Flower Farm — and it’s the beginning of our much-loved spring season.

A fresh delivery of tulip bulbs arrived at the farm this week, marking the official start of our spring bouquet journey. While they may look small and unassuming now, these bulbs are the foundation of the vibrant, locally grown blooms you’ll see in the months ahead.

The Secret Behind Beautiful Tulips

Growing tulips in our climate takes a little extra care — and a lot of patience.

Unlike cooler regions that naturally provide the cold winters tulips need, we recreate those conditions right here on the farm. Each bulb will spend the next 6–8 weeks in refrigerated cold storage, a crucial step that mimics a true winter environment.

This chilling process is essential. It helps:

  • Trigger strong root development
  • Encourage healthy, uniform growth
  • Ensure those signature, stunning tulip blooms

Without this period of cold, tulips simply won’t perform the way they should.

A Labour of Love (and Timing)

Tulip growing is a beautiful balance of science and nature. From carefully managing temperature to timing their planting just right, every step plays a role in delivering high-quality, seasonal flowers.

It’s a process that starts now — well before the first signs of spring — and one we’re so excited to share with you.

What This Means for You

These tulips will eventually make their way into our locally grown, seasonal spring bouquets, bringing fresh colour, elegance, and a true sense of the season to your home or special occasion.

There’s nothing quite like flowers that are grown with care, right here on the farm.

Are You a Tulip Lover?

We’d love to know — are tulips one of your favourites?

Spring is on its way, and we can’t wait to bring these beauties to life for you.
